North Lakes Team

Nominated Supervisor and Centre Manager

Hi My name is Tammy Lockyer,

I have been in the Education and Care industry for over ten years and have a vast array of experience. I have taught in Primary schools, run Kindy Programs and have been in Management roles within the Early Childhood sector.

As an Educator, I hold my Bachelor of Education. I believe that all children deserve to experience a variety of learning opportunities, developing a healthy sense of exploration and wonder. As a Manager, I believe it is my role to ensure that all of the Educators in my Service are creating meaningful learning provocations and collaborating with our children and families to ensure that all children feel safe, supported and connected to their community.

I value parent and community input and we are working towards creating a holistic approach to our program, encompassing mind, body and spirit. We are promoting the wellness of each child and are embedding an approach that embraces and emphasises the importance of our environment.

I look forward to meeting you and showing you around our North Lakes Centre.

Assistant Centre Manager

Hello my name is Miss Liesl and I am very excited to have joined the Kids Capers Leadership team at North Lakes

I believe children should feel comfortable in a home like environment, where they can feel comfortable and safe just like they do at home with their families. The more comfortable and happier they become in their surroundings it is easier for them to make friends with ease.

Children should be encouraged to become individuals and be proud of who they are.

I most relate to Maria Montessori whom stressed that children learn by using their senses and that they learn best by pursuing their interests, this is shown as the children choose their own play in a carefully prepared environment which guarantees exposure to materials and experiences.

I believe in respecting all cultural and religious beliefs of families, making families always feel welcome to

the centre they are with us, encouraging families to participate in all aspects of the centre.

In keeping a safe environment for children to play in and helping children be the best they can be as they are all individuals and unique in their own way.

I look forward to getting to know all the families and watching your children grow in their own little way.

Support Manager

Hi my name is Kylee Kenn,

I am fortunate to be the support manager for some of the Kids Capers centres including North Lakes, Sandgate, Northgate, Bald Hills and Wamuran.

My passion for Early Childhood Education began in 2003, when I discovered and became passionate about the Early Years and children’s Development, I joined the Kids Capers family at Clayfield in 2010. During my time, I have transferred between Capers centres in various roles.

My intention in this role is to support our management teams to bring the best outcomes for our children and families and encourage the development and growth of our wonderful educators to reach their full potential as professionals in the Early Years of the children’s lives.

Here at North Lakes we believe in the power of play and the important role it holds in preparing children for their lives as future learners. We Encourage children to take a hands on approach to exploring the world around them, promoting them to be involved in all aspects of the program we provide.

Our recently renovated environments including a fully functioning centre kitchen where meals are prepared by our qualified cook, using locally sourced seasonal produce.

We offer an Early Learning Languages Australia program in Mandarin Chinese for our Kindergarten children which is delivered weekly by Li Hua Chan who holds a Master of Education.

We value family at North Lakes, and want to provide you with an environment that is like a second home to you and your child.

Please feel free to come and visit our service and let us show you around, introduce you to the Educators and explore the numerous environments.

Centre Philosophy

Here at Kids Capers North Lakes we value our connections with our community and strive to provide a safe, supportive and inclusive environment. Through open communication and strong partnerships, we commit to supporting our families to raise happy and resilient children.

We understand the impact our environment has on supporting children’s unique learning styles, family cultures, behaviours and interests. We provide positive and engaging experiences designed to foster children’s sense of autonomy and sense of belonging. We connect with community networks that help us to achieve our goal of helping develop confident, compassionate and curious future community members.

We support each Educator’s pedagogy, life experiences and training and use this rich diversity to commit to be the leaders in education and care. Educators strive to develop respectful and trusting relationships with children to support their social and emotional wellbeing.

We recognise that children learn best through play, so support their natural curiosity to create, explore and experiment through all their senses.  Therefore, we celebrate that mess can be a by-product of learning. We value the importance of the early years in preparing our children for formal education, a sustainable future and lifelong success.
