Assistant Centre Manager and Educational Leader
Hello, my name is Kristy Newton,
I have been a part of the Kids Capers Family since 2013. I started at the North Lakes service as Assistant Centre Manager and still reside there while supporting other Capers teams in their progress towards Quality Programs and Practice. I hold an Advanced Diploma in Children’s Services through Tafe QLD and have been in the profession since 2002 across many roles.
I am lucky enough to have the opportunity to network with Capers centres, Staff, Management and Families to help build an inclusive program that is engaging and co-collaborative for children. I work with Educators to mentor, support and instill knowledge and training, and support them in implementing a program that enhances learning and development that harnesses children’s natural inquisitiveness, abilities and learning goals.
With the guidance and support of my fellow Educational Leaders we aim to be leaders in developing holistic programs for learning, development and play.
Hello, my name is Kara Lees,
I am the administration officer for the North Lakes Centre and provide accounts support to the Elimbah, Mango Hill, Sandgate and Wamuran Centres.
I have 12 years experience within the administration field and have previously worked for Kids Capers before going on maternity leave. I enjoy working within the childcare setting and feel a sense of happiness and achievement supporting the Educators in their very important role they carry out everyday by caring and supporting children and their needs.
I will always be a support for children and families and encourage families to approach me with any enquiries.
I will support my Centres philosophy and provide unconditional encouragement to my team and give the children a strong sense of being, belonging and becoming.
Hi my name is Kylee Kenn,
I am fortunate to be the support manager for some of the Kids Capers centres including North Lakes, Sandgate, Northgate, Bald Hills and Wamuran.
My passion for Early Childhood Education began in 2003, when I discovered and became passionate about the Early Years and children’s Development, I joined the Kids Capers family at Clayfield in 2010. During my time, I have transferred between Capers centres in various roles.
My intention in this role is to support our management teams to bring the best outcomes for our children and families and encourage the development and growth of our wonderful educators to reach their full potential as professionals in the Early Years of the children’s lives.
Our centre offers 170 places and caters for the needs of children aged from 6 weeks to school age within 11 spacious air conditioned rooms. We are situated in the North Lakes community just across the road from Bounty Boulevard State School. Our centre follows and believes in the Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF) and the outcomes it provides for children as individual and creative learners. Our Kindergarten Programs follow the Queensland Kindergarten Learning Guidelines (QKLG) and we currently have two Government Approved Kindergarten Programs running.
Educators within the service hold qualifications from Certificates and Diplomas through to the Bachelor of Early Childhood Education held by our Kindergarten Teachers, and we would love to share our knowledge with you.
Here at North Lakes we believe in the power of play and the important role it holds in preparing children for their lives as future learners. We Encourage children to take a hands on approach to exploring the world around them, promoting them to be involved in all aspects of the program we provide.
Our recently renovated environments including a fully functioning centre kitchen where meals are prepared by our qualified cook Lesa, using locally sourced seasonal produce.
We offer an Early Learning Languages Australia program in Mandarin Chinese for our Kindergarten children which is delivered weekly by Li Hua Chan who holds a Master of Education.
We value family at North Lakes, and want to provide you with an environment that is like a second home to you and your child.
Please feel free to come and visit our service and let us show you around, introduce you to the Educators and explore the numerous environments.
Here at Kids Capers North Lakes we value our connections with our community and strive to provide a safe, supportive and inclusive environment. Through open communication and strong partnerships, we commit to supporting our families to raise happy and resilient children.
We understand the impact our environment has on supporting children’s unique learning styles, family cultures, behaviours and interests. Thus we provide positive and engaging experiences designed to foster children’s sense of autonomy and sense of belonging. We connect with community networks that help us to achieve our goal of helping develop confident, compassionate and curious future community members.
We support each Educator’s pedagogy, life experiences and training and use this rich diversity to commit to be the leaders in education and care. Educators strive to develop respectful and trusting relationships with children to support their social and emotional wellbeing.
We recognise that children learn best through play, so support their natural curiosity to create, explore and experiment through all their senses. Therefore, we celebrate that mess can be a by-product of learning. We value the importance of the early years in preparing our children for formal education, a sustainable future and lifelong success.
