Wamuran Team

Nominated Supervisor and Centre Manager

Hi My name is Jacki Hattersley,

I started working in Childcare by studying through a traineeship, which is where I first found my passion for working with children. During my first year in childcare I completed a Cert 3 in Children’s Services and enjoyed every minute of it. It was amazing to see those tiny humans blossom into independent, confident children. In 2013, I decided to further my studies and complete a Diploma of Children’s Services.

Child care is my passion and I feel lucky to get to do this for my career. I’ve been apart of the Kids Capers family since 2013 and have loved working for such an amazing company. My role as Centre Manager provides me the opportunity to work alongside children, families and staff. I look forward to seeing what the future has in store.

Please do don’t hesitate to talk to me and I will help in any way that I can.

Assistant Centre Manager

Hello my name is Maddie Neal,

I am the the Assistant Centre Manager of our beautiful Kids Capers Wamuran Centre. I have been a part of the Kids Capers family for 3 years, starting my journey off as the Assistant Educator in the kindergarten room. In July of 2019 I started my leadership training within the company at Mango Hill, before transferring over to our North Lakes centre as the Assistant Manager.

I moved to Wamuran in June 2020 to further my training and I am very excited to be building relationships with the families and children. I am very passionate about the early years and believe that the first 5 years of a child's development is the most important.

I look forward to showing you around our centre and assisting where I can.

Support Manager

Hi my name is Kylee Kenn, I am fortunate to be the support manager for some of the Kids Capers centres including North Lakes, Sandgate, Northgate, Bald Hills and Wamuran.

My passion for Early Childhood Education began in 2003, when I discovered and became passionate about the Early Years and children’s Development, I joined the Kids Capers family at Clayfield in 2010. During my time, I have transferred between Capers centres in various roles.

My intention in this role is to support our management teams to bring the best outcomes for our children and families and encourage the development and growth of our wonderful educators to reach their full potential as professionals in the Early Years of the children’s lives.

Facilities & Programs

Kids Capers Wamuran is a quiet and home-like rural centre located opposite the Wamuran State School. We have four rooms that open up onto three large natural outdoor play areas. We cater for children from 6 weeks to school age. We also offer a Government Approved Kindergarten Program with a qualified Early Childhood Teacher following the Queensland Kindergarten Learning Guidelines (QKLG). Our Educators aim to provide a creative and meaningful program that encourages a love of learning and prepares children for school.

Our program is based on the Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF) with the belief that through play babies and young children explore and learn to understand the world around them as they come to communicate, discover, imagine and create.

We believe our greatest asset is our team of qualified, committed and caring Educators throughout our centre.  We welcome you to call or visit us to meet the team and view our centre at any time.

Centre Philosophy

Educational Program and Practice

At Kids Capers, Wamuran we acknowledge the extensive research that has found children to learn best through play. We endeavour to provide open ended opportunities which allows all children in our care to have an input in what they are learning and a voice in how they learn. We value a program which supports and nurtures the development of children physically, socially and emotionally.

Health, Safety and physical environment

Here at our centre, we are fortunate enough to be surrounded by nature. This gives the endless opportunities for children to be free to explore the world around them. Indoor and outdoor play is always offered for the comfort and well-being of all children to engage and enhance children’s development and learning. Staff are always interacting and strongly monitoring and supervising all areas. We carefully consider all areas of play and negotiate the important areas to supervise.

We strongly imbed sustainability within our centre by creating our own edible gardens, educating children on the importance of recycling and often using recycled materials to create their own artwork which have been donating by our community.

Relationships with children, families and our community

At Wamuran, we have a strong focus on relationships. The voices of our children and their families are strongly viewed and respected, and our staff’s views are equally respected amongst each other in collaboration with families.

We quickly form strong bonds with the children in our care to ensure they feel safe, secure and supported each and every day. These bonds are seen by our families, which provides them with the same support as they leave each morning.

Within our community, we are strongly known for our fundraising and support towards our fellow business owners, some of which are our very own families. We work closely with our local school and often join in celebrations and events with one another.

Culture is of the utmost importance in our centre. We have a strong focus on the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander culture and try to imbed this culture on the inside and outside of our centre as much as we can. We pay our respects to the traditional owners of the land on which our centre stands, each and every day. We have formed strong connections with Aunties and Uncles in our area and respect their opinions of the land.

Our Staff

Our staff consistently work together to provide the best possible care for all children. We hold monthly staff meetings to discuss important matters, and we take this opportunity to further our skills by completing in house training together. We each have unique skills and strengths and we collaboratively work together to provide the best quality of care possible.
