Kids Capers NORTHGATE Centre Philosophy

Centre Philosophy

“We would like to recognise the traditional landowners, Australia’s First Nations People of the Meajin Region, on whose land we play and learn on today.”

Here at Kids Capers Northgate, we believe all children are confident and capable learners and we feel privileged to be involved in their learning journey. We value our families and believe that it is our role to work in partnership to create the best outcomes for all children.

Our Children

We value all children as successful, competent, capable learners and decision makers in their life and learning. We believe all children’s voices should be heard and embedded into our daily programs. We welcome and support each child’s multicultural values and strongly believe in inclusivity, that all children have the right to a safe, secure and nurturing environment that fosters their development and embeds curiosity for learning. Our children tell us the best thing about our service is to “Play with my Friends!” and “Playing outside” within our spacious and engaging environments that encompass all areas of learning and development. We aim to foster an atmosphere in which learning is valued and children feel supported to contribute and engage in critical thinking to organise and make sense of their world both within our centre and wider community.

Our Families

We consider our families as partners in educating children and encourage secure, respectful, and reciprocal relationships. We believe that when a family enrols their child within our service, they become a part of our Kids Capers family. We endeavour to support our families when needed and work together to combat challenges as they arise. We support each family’s culture to create a sense of belonging from the moment they walk into our centre. We provide parents the opportunity to contribute their input and ideas towards the centre as well as their child’s learning.

Our Educators

We believe in sharing creative practices within our team and community allowing our qualified educators to share their own talent, strengths, and love of learning. Our educators purposely scaffold children’s learning through intentional and spontaneous teaching moments, using the Approved Learning Frameworks. We promote critical support for children’s learning through incorporating the AEDC data into our programs and environments. Our passionate educators are consistently engaging in training opportunities to further their knowledge, to provide high quality education and care for all young learners. We create engaging outdoors experiences, embracing the environment as the “Third Teacher”.

Our Community

We believe being active in our community is key in educating young children, we endeavour to create long standing connections with various areas of our community. We aim to engage with our community through excursions and creating strong relationships with local schools and play groups. We continue to take steps towards maintaining a strong connection with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples within our community and embed these values into our environments and program.

Our Leadership

We believe we are a unique gem within our community. This is recognised in our shared values and connections with families, children and educators, where we welcome, reflect and draw on the voices, priorities and strengths with this community.
