Kids Capers ELIMBAH Centre Philosophy

Centre Philosophy

“We would like to recognise and respect the traditional owners of this land, the Gubbi Gubbi people whose land we build our community today”.

We recognise the importance of the early years, and provide an appropriate environment that is relaxed, warm, and nurturing so each family and educator feels a sense of belonging. The early years are a time for a child to be in the moment, talking pleasure in the here and now playing and experiencing life’s wonders. We believe that all children will grow and develop, creating their own identities and becoming activities participants in our society.

Our Children

Our children are on a journey of self-discovery and have the right to experience a caring and loving environment that fills them with wonder, joy and excitement. We value that all children are unique in their own wonderful ways. We believe it is essential to encourage children’s agency and autonomy over their learning by ensuring we are providing various opportunities for children’s input. Our children are treated equally, and are regarded as capable learners, regardless of cultural background and diversities. Our children value connection, constructive play and creativity. Above all, our children value the world of play and the endless discoveries that come with it.

Our Families

Our families value an inclusive environment that embodies connection, kindness and respect. Families value open communication and reciprocal relationships with educators and management. Values that our families feel are most important throughout our service are compassion, safety, honesty, kindness, integrity and creativity. The bridge between our service and home is built through these values and ensures we maintain family connections.

Our Educators

Our trusted educators are the foundation of our service and embody all the qualities that we feel are essential for early childhood educators. They are kind, intelligent, compassionate and hardworking people who value quality care. They lead with compassion and encourage our little people to explore the world of learning through providing quality experiences that are enable children’s growth and development. Our educators are committed to continual self-reflection and improvement through consistently reflecting on all elements of professional practice, which in turn, inform future policies and procedures. Our educators are also committed to continual self-improvement through completing annual professional development and training. Our educators pride themselves on creating warm, welcoming, and nurturing environments consisting of caring and compassionate educators that create safe and secure environments for our children.

Our Community

Our community aims to serve as a key partner in our service where we encourage families, educators, and children to infiltrate their values into the wider areas of Elimbah. We aim to encourage children to become responsible partners in environmental awareness and sustainability through sustainable practices. We encourage our small community to become more aware of the local and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community, the Gubbi Gubbi people, where our educators embed these cultural aspects into their daily programs and learning environments.

Our Leadership

Our leadership team believe that children are our future. Through our strong connections with families, educators, and the greater community, we will work together to provide children with a safe, stimulating environment that instils a love of learning. We believe all children have the right to learn how to care for their future world and this learning is nurtured and promoted to support children as they grow and become active participants in our community. Our leaders ensure that educators are supported and valued as they implement the foundations of quality care to guarantee the best outcomes for our children, our community and our centre.

Inclusion

Our mission is to provide a warm, nurturing, and inclusive environment for all staff, families and children that enter our service. Our inclusive practices are driven by the compassionate, empathetic, and supportive values encompassed by our educators. Our dedicated staff pride themselves on providing all children with equal opportunities and resources as they embark on their individual learning journeys. Families of all shapes, sizes, cultures, and diversities are enabled to feel a sense of belonging within our service. We wholeheartedly welcome every child in every way. We want the wiggly bodies, the creative minds, the opinionated talkers, the quiet observers, and everything in between.
