Kids Capers WAMURAN Centre Philosophy

Centre Philosophy

Kids Capers Childcare Wamuran acknowledge the Jinibara people – The People of the lawyer vine, whose land our centre is built on and pay respects to the Elders past, present and future. We value our on-going relationships with the community and respectfully incorporate their guidance, input and traditions to continue and reclaim traditional culture for the next generation.

Our Children

At Kids Capers Childcare Wamuran, there is a strong focus on relationships. The voices of our children are highly valued…..

“I like wearing school shirt”

“There’s rocks and toys”

“The people”

We acknowledge the extensive research that supports play as the best way for children to learn. We endeavour to provide open-ended opportunities so that children have an active voice in what and how they learn

We value a program that supports and nurtures the physical, social, emotional, and cognitive development of all children. At our centre we are fortunate enough to be surrounded by nature, which provides endless opportunities for children to explore the natural world around them.

Our Families

The voices of our families are highly acknowledged and respected here at Kids Capers Childcare Wamuran. All family beliefs and values are respected and incorporated into our program.

“A warm welcoming, clean & positive interactions with children” Sam Bassett

“As long as my child is looked after and treated like their own kid” – Rhiannon Phillips

“Approachability of the staff and flexibility. Lilly is a lot happier here” – Fiona Gorman

Our Educators

We thrive to provide the highest quality staff to assist with the best possible care for all children.

The well-being of our Educators is of the upmost importance and a safe workplace environment is paramount. All cultural backgrounds of our educators are incorporated and encouraged into the program, as much as the families are. Educators are encouraged to explore their pedagogy and are supported through professional development opportunities.

“We work together as a team effectively” – Liam Hall

“Kids Capers is a second home for the children and a support network for the families” – Katreena Lucas

Our Community

Culture is of the utmost importance and we have a strong focus on embedding Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures within our program and service. Through our strong reciprocal connections with Aunties and Uncles in our community we include and respect their opinions and traditions of the land. We are committed to entrenching sustainable practices within our centre, through our edible community garden, recycling practices and teaching our little people to be more environmentally friendly by caring for land.

Our kindy creek program supports these practices where children are given the opportunity to be more connected to the land and provided with endless opportunities to learn and respect their surrounds. We are recognised for our fundraising efforts and support towards local businesses, supporting their initiatives and lending a hand wherever we can. We work closely with our local schools, often joining in celebrations and events. This creates a wonderful sense of belonging to not only our families and children, but the wider community.

Our Leadership

Kids Capers Childcare Wamuran displays effective distributed leadership systems and processes to support and continually improve workplace learning and environments. Our team collaborates often and use an online platform to promote regular communication. We value opportunities to further our skills by completing regular in-house training and professional development to offer development and growth.
